Property taxes in Frisco, TX

Property taxes in Frisco, TX depend on which county and school district your home is in. The City rate is the same everywhere in Frisco. But the county, college and school rates change across the city.

Which taxing units are on a Frisco bill?

Every Frisco home pays the City of Frisco and one county. Collin County homes also pay Collin College. Each home pays one of four school districts: Frisco, Prosper, Lewisville or Little Elm ISD. A MUD or PID is added where one exists.

The Collin Central Appraisal District or Denton Central Appraisal District values the home, based on the county. Homes in the Denton County part get statements from both county tax offices.

The City's appraisal district page links to both districts. That helps if you are unsure of the county.

What are the current Frisco tax rates?

The City lists these fiscal 2026 rates per $100 of value. Collin County side: City of Frisco $0.425517, Collin County $0.149343, Collin College $0.081220, Frisco ISD $1.019400 and Prosper ISD $1.214100.

Denton County side: City of Frisco $0.425517, Denton County $0.185938, Frisco ISD $1.019400, Lewisville ISD $1.117800 and Little Elm ISD $1.225200.

The City kept its $0.425517 rate for fiscal 2026-27. Other units set new rates each fall. Confirm the current year on the appraisal record.

Which exemptions can lower my bill?

The City gives a 20% homestead exemption with a $5,000 minimum. Owners 65 and older or disabled get $80,000 more and a city tax freeze. School districts must exempt $140,000 of a homestead's value. They exempt $60,000 more for owners 65 or older or disabled.

File with your appraisal district before May 1. Did you buy after January 1? You may qualify for the rest of that year if the seller did not claim the exemption.

How much can my appraisal rise?

Once your homestead qualifies, its appraised value cannot rise more than 10% a year. This starts January 1 of the next tax year. A temporary 20% circuit breaker limit applies to some non-homestead property valued at $5,320,000 or less.

How do I protest my value?

The deadline is May 15 or 30 days after the appraisal district mails your notice, whichever is later. Bring recent sales of similar homes. Many owners start with an informal review.

What about PIDs and MUDs in Frisco?

Inside city limits, the City lists only the two Panther Creek PIDs, and it is closing them out. Newer communities near Frisco may carry MUD taxes or PID assessments, especially outside city limits. Sellers must give you a written notice before you sign.
